Huawei has been rumored to release a new line of smartphones, and it seems that the new Nova and Nova Plus have arrived. The handsets fall into the mid-range category, and the company says they’re designed to meet the needs of today’s most dynamic consumers.

Smartphones in the Nova series come with a multi-curve design and with powerful cameras for snapping pictures easily. The devices are built of aluminum but sport protruding square camera humps on the back, which looks a bit dated. Still, the curved design with rounded corners and a circular fingerprint sensor does manage to catch users' the attention. Still, the handset’s design does resemble the Nexus 6P in some respects.

Huawei Nova and Nova Plus will be available starting October for the prices of €399 ($445) and €429 ($478), respectively, and the company has announced that other phones will be launched in the series. Nova and Nova Plus will be available in multiple colors, including Prestige Gold, Mystic Siler, and Titanium Grey.

Huawei Nova comes with a 5-inch IPS LCD display with 1080p resolution and a rear camera capacity of 12MP with phase-detection autofocus. In addition, it can record 4k video and comes with a fingerprint scanner on the back.

The smartphone runs an octa-core Snapdragon 625 processor with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, with the capacity to expand to 128GB using a microSD card. It also sports an 8MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture. Battery capacity reaches 3,020mAh, and the device comes with USB Type-C port and runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with EMUI 4.1 on top.

Huawei Nova Plus comes with a larger display of 5.5 inches

Nova Plus is the bigger handset in the series, with a 5.5-inch 1080p display and a 16MP rear camera with optical image stabilization. It draws power from a 3,340mAh battery, and all other specs seem to be identical to those of the Nova phone. The two devices will be available starting October in over 50 markets, including Germany, Spain, and Canada.

Huawei has also announced that it released more color variants for its flagship, the P9. Consequently, Huawei P9 now comes in Red and Blue color versions.
