The Snapdragon 820 will make it out in December

Just a few days ago, popular leakster Evan Blass, or @evleaks, revealed information related to the specs of the upcoming Huawei Nexus smartphone.

Blass claimed that the phone would arrive with a 5.7-inch QHD display (2560 x 1440 pixel resolution) and with Qualcomm’s next-gen Snapdragon 820 chipset under the bonnet.

But as is the case with most rumors, none of them are set in stone. A trending report coming from well-known Chinese analyst Pan Jiutang on Weibo refutes the claims made by Blass, saying that the Huawei Nexus will actually draw power from a Snapdragon 810 instead (as seen at Mobi Picker).

This isn’t the first time we have heard that at least one upcoming Nexus device will be powered by a Snapdragon 810.

The Snapdragon 820 will arrive as late as December

Why does Pan Jiutang say that the Snapdragon 810 will be the processor powering the new Huawei-made Nexus? Well, because he believes that devices powered by a Snapdragon 820 will not make it to the market before March 2016. He claims the chipset will be released in December.

On top of that, he adds more credit to the rumor saying that the Xiaomi Mi5 Plus will be the first device to sport a Snapdragon 820 under the hood.

So if the Snapdragon 820 is bound to make it out in December, we have to assume the Huawei Nexus will be launched sometime in October or December. The Huawei Nexus will probably be accompanied by the LG-made Nexus 5 (2015), although this is not set in stone at the moment.

Other information we’ve seen fly around about the Huawei Nexus would have us believe the phablet will come with a metal design and a fingerprint scanner, both a first for the Nexus lineup.

Google wanted to put a fingerprint authentication system inside the Nexus 6 too, but towards the end of the development process, the idea had to be scraped off. Maybe the new Nexus device will be luckier in this regard. The phone will also take advantage of a QHD (2K) display like most flagships making it out on the market these days.
