Huawei announced the Mate 9 back in November last year and the company recently launched the phone in the US during CES 2017. In fact, the Mate 9 was one of the most exciting smartphones to be presented at this year’s CES edition, considering that the US variant came with Amazon’s cloud-based voice service Alexa.

Friday the 13th will bring good news for Huawei fans in the UK, as local carrier Three has announced that it will make the Huawei Mate 9 phone available on its network. The pricing of the phone on Three's network wasn’t revealed, but it shouldn’t be far from the $600 price tag set in the US, the equivalent of £495 in the UK.

It’s unclear at this point what data plans the carrier will offer for Mate 9 customers, but they could be similar to the ones for the Huawei P9. Currently, the P9 is the only Huawei phone sold at Three with contract plans starting from £18.00 per month and £99.00 upfront, but customers can choose from a total of 16 plans available.

Dual-camera setup with Leica lenses and a 4,000mAh battery

Huawei Mate 9 is already available in the US at Best Buy, Amazon, Newegg, and other retailers. It’s unclear if the UK variant will be made available with Amazon Alexa on board, that remains to be seen. The phablet features a 5.9-inch full HD display and runs a Kirin 960 chipset, coupled with Mali G71 graphics processing unit.

The chipset is said to offer 180% improved performance and 40% reduction in battery life. The Mate 9 incorporates an impressive battery of 4,000mAh with SuperCharge features. The 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage provide enough speed and memory for processing and storing pictures taken with the impressive dual-camera setup on the back.

The 12MP RGB sensor and 20MP monochrome sensor by Leica offer the tools for taking photos like a pro while also using the incorporated OIS and laser autofocus features.
