Huawei might launch a new mid-range Android smartphone in India on January 28. The new smartphone is dubbed Huawei Honor Holly 2 Plus and belongs to the mid-range tier.

There's no info on price and availability yet, but the smartphone's design has been revealed in a live picture leaked by Indian blog PC-Tablet.co.in.

The sequel to the Honor Holly, which was launched on the market back in 2014, will come with updated software and improved hardware.

However, the Holly 2 Plus is still a mid-end affair judging by the specs that leaked online along with the smartphone's picture.

First of all, the smartphone will come with Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system right out of the box, along with Emotion UI on top.

It's unclear whether or not the Holly 2 Plus will receive a Marshmallow upgrade later this year, but we doubt that will happen considering its rather low-end specs.

Massive 4,000 mAh battery, CDMA support

According to the cited source, Huawei Holly 2 Plus comes equipped with a 64-bit 1.3GHz quad-core processor, coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal memory that can be expanded up to 64GB via microSD card slot.

Also, Huawei's mid-range smartphone will pack a 13-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which features autofocus, LED flash and full HD (1080p) video recording, as well as a secondary 5-megapixel selfie camera in the front.

Since it will be launched in India, the Holly 2 Plus offers dual-SIM support but also includes other connectivity options like 4G LTE, CDMA, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, microUSB 2.0 and GPS with AGPS.

Last but not least, Huawei Holly 2 Plus will be powered by a massive 4,000 mAh battery and it should sport a 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports HD (720p) resolution.

Huawei India confirmed a launch event for January 28, so we expect the Holly 2 Plus to be unveiled later this month, along with information on availability and price.
