Huawei is still having a hard time dealing with all the sanctions announced by former United States President Donald Trump, with the company even said to be looking into selling its P and Mate brands of flagship phone lineups.

But now that Joe Biden is the new President of the United States, Huawei finally sees a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel, as it’s believed the new administration could eventually remove the company from the Entity List.

In other words, Huawei could once again be allowed to use Android on its smartphones, pre-loaded these devices with Google services and resume working with all its American partners.

No decision on the Huawei ban just yet

However, no decision in this regard has been made, and a report from Reuters in this regard suggests Huawei’s sanctions could end up being reanalyzed if Rhode Island governor Gina Raimondo ends up becoming the new Commerce chief.

“[I would] review the policy, consult with you, consult with industry, consult with our allies and make an assessment as to what’s best for American national and economic security,” Raimondo told the cited source when discussing the chances to see Huawei being removed from the Entity List.

Raimondo says her main focus would be protecting American companies, explaining that she wouldn’t agree with any Chinese involvement in the business of local firms.

“I would use the full toolkit at my disposal to the fullest extent possible to protect Americans and our network from Chinese interference or any kind of back-door influence,” she says.

While it’s pretty clear that being removed from the Entity List is something that might not even happen, Huawei certainly considers these statements the best news in a long time, as the new administration at least considers allowing the company to work with American partners once again after a closer review.
