And they claim their own versions will beat Apple’s

Huawei has made it a hobby to discuss Apple’s latest technologies in its press conferences, and most recently, the company unveiled two technologies which they think are so much better than those on the iPhone X.

During a press event for the Honor V10 phablet in China, company executives provided the attendants with a glimpse into the feature lineup of a future Android phone model, revealing that it plans to roll out not only a facial recognition system similar to Face ID, but also animated emoji based on this tech that would essentially be a clone of Apple’s Animoji.

In both cases, Huawei says its own features will be substantially better than Apple’s, both in terms of security and usability.

Huawei’s Animoji version detects the tongue

For example, the facial recognition system developed by Huawei, which at this point doesn’t yet have a name because is still in its early days, would use upgraded modules capable of scanning no less than 300,000 points in 10 seconds. Apple’s iPhone X does the same thing but with only 30,000 points that are being used to create a 3D image of the face, and this is why Huawei says its facial recognition tech will be much more accurate and secure.

Additionally, Huawei says it’ll make it just as fast as fingerprint scanners, so it’ll unlock the device in just 400 milliseconds.

And the icing on the cake is an Animoji clone that uses the said facial recognition system and which beats Apple’s because it recognizes when users… stuck out their tongue. This is a feature that’s missing on the iPhone X for now, but which Huawei apparently sees as a major achievement that will help the company defeat Apple in the smartphone market.

Industry watchers probably remember that this isn’t the first time Huawei copies rival Apple, and more recently it promised to release a dual-camera system on the Mate 10 that would make the iPhone 7/8 Plus obsolete.
