The update should hit smartphones in a matter of weeks

Chinese handset maker Huawei announced a few weeks ago it would offer Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to several of its smartphones.

The company did not share any details on timings for these updates, but at least we now have a list of smartphones that we know will eventually be upgraded to Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

It's also worth mentioning that the smartphones confirmed to these upgrades are only for the Chinese market, but we suspect Huawei will want to push Marshmallow to its devices in other regions as well.

In order to show that it's not joking with its previous statement, Huawei's marketing exec Xi Zhao confirmed for AndroidCentral that his company would release Android 6.0 Marshmallow for the Honor 7.

Hopefully, Huawei will release a public beta

Keep in mind that this will be a beta version of Android 6.0 Marshmallow, but it's still better than nothing. It's rather surprising that Huawei has decided to start a beta program for the Honor 7, which isn't a high-end smartphone.

However, the Honor 7 might be one of the most popular smartphones launched by Huawei in the last several months, so the Chinese company expects lots of people to install the beta and offer their feedback for this build.

When it comes to the timing of the release, Xi Zhao stated that Android 6.0 Marshmallow beta should arrive on Huawei Honor 7 sometime next month.

According to him, it's a matter of few weeks until Huawei pushes the upgrade, so if you own an Honor 7 device prepare it for an update to Marshmallow.

That being said, here are all the smartphones Huawei confirmed to receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow updates in the coming months:

Huawei P8, Huawei Mate 7, Huawei Mate S, Huawei P8 Youth Edition, Huawei P8 Max, Huawei G8 Chinese Variant, Huawei G7 Plus, Huawei G7, Huawei Honor 7, Huawei Honor 7i, Huawei Honor 6 Plus, Huawei Honor 6, Huawei X2, Huawei 4X, and Huawei Play 4C.
