Samsung and Apple are the largest smartphone vendors in the world and their places at the top haven’t been contended by any other brand yet.

The gap between these two companies and the rest is huge and will probably remain that way for a few years. Other handset makers like Huawei, Lenovo, Xiaomi, and LG are switching positions in top 5 mobile phone vendors almost every month.

As of lately, Huawei has been the big winner since the company has made it to top 3 in world’s largest smartphone makers. The Chinese company has just released the financial results for 2015, and the numbers look impressive.

The Carrier business group achieved a revenue of $35.8 billion, increase of 21% over last year. Huawei confirmed that the widespread rollout of 4G networks was a significant factor in this figure.

Next in line, the enterprise business group revenue reached $4.3 billion, representing a 44% increase, driven by rapid growth in public safety, finance, transportation and energy sectors.

Last but not least, the Consumer business group reports a revenue of $19.9 billion, up a whopping 73% over the past year. According to the Chinese company, it owes the spectacular growth to the increased demand for its products, which promise a premium user experience at a more affordable price.

173 million phones shipped, 44% increase in smartphone shipments

The financial report also includes some interesting information like the fact that Huawei shipped 173 million phones last year, a 25% increase over 2015. Smartphones shipments are increased by 44% over 2014, and Huawei becomes the first Chinese brand that manages to surpass the 100 million smartphones shipped milestone.

Huawei is now the largest mobile phone vendor in China and the Honor brand is one of the most popular family of smartphones sold online.

The Chinese company also reports it sold 1 million Huawei Mate 8 units in just a month since its launch. Also, no less than 5 million Huawei P8 and 7 million Huawei Mate 7 smartphones were shipped by the end of 2015 fiscal year.

More than 40 million Honor smartphones were shipped in over 70 countries and regions during the same period. Huawei also mentions that 30% of the smartphones sold belong to the mid-range and premium categories.
