It's been quite a few months since the first rumors regarding the next Nexus smartphone emerged online.

The first details started to come in around May when we learned that Google might launch not one but two Nexus smartphones this year.

On the other hand, Google would drop plans to launch a Nexus tablet in 2015, but a new slate under this brand might arrive next year.

Obviously, these were just speculations based on info coming from various source, more or less reliable.

As months have come and gone, more rumors on the next Nexus smartphones piled up, which suggest that Google has yet to decide whether there will be two phones released under its brand this year or just one.

According to the latest hearsay, Google may have already shook hands with LG for the manufacturing of a Nexus smartphone, but Huawei is in the cards for a second device as well.

Now a new report coming from The Information supports previous rumors that Google will launch two Nexus smartphones manufactured by LG and Huawei.

The partnership between the two companies will be mutually beneficial

Google will reportedly help Huawei strengthen its foothold in the Western markets, including the United States where the Chinese company is still struggling.

In return, Huawei will help Google build an application store for China. Since Google Play Store and other Google apps and services do not work in China, this would a way for the search giant to enter this market.

As such, the relationship between the two companies will be mutually beneficial and won't involve just the release of a Nexus smartphone.

The new report suggests that the partnership between Huawei and Google could go beyond the Nexus' co-development, though the details are unknown for the moment.

The next Nexus smartphone(s) will be announced later this fall when Google is expected to launch the new Android M operating system.
