HTC Will Supposedly Release HTC Desire 10 in September

The smartphone could be unveiled in late Q3

HTC is expected to unveil two Nexus smartphones this year, in partnership with Google. Nexus Sailfish and Marlin should be released in the coming months, but it seems that these aren't the only devices that HTC is working on. A new rumor has appeared, stating that the manufacturer will also introduce a variant of HTC 10 in September.

The information has been leaked by Evan Blass, and it reveals that HTC will debut the HTC Desire 10 in late Q3, most likely in September. The handset will be a variant of the company's HTC 10, which apparently didn't perform as expected when it comes to sales.

A recent report has shown that HTC is struggling to sell 1 million units of HTC 10 this year, which doesn't exactly make this smartphone a commercial success. Apparently, HTC is in this position due to strong competition from Chinese brands. Nevertheless, it could see its market position improved later this year, following the release of Nexus handsets and the debut of a new variant of HTC 10, the Desire 10.

HTC Desire 10 could come with the same powerful rear camera as on the HTC 10

There are few details on the upcoming Desire 10, but Evan Blass has suggested that the smartphone could have a rear camera relatively similar to that on the HTC 10, which means that it will come with a dual LED flash and laser auto focus.

In addition, the device could also be made out of plastic instead of metal, considering that it will be a more affordable variant of the HTC 10. The company launched the HTC 10 in April, and the phone came with a 5.2-inch Super LCD display with Quad HD resolution and USB Type-C port. It runs a 64-bit quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, an Adreno 530 graphics processing unit, and 4GB of RAM.

The phone draws power from a 3,000 mAh battery and comes with 32GB or 64GB internal storage with the option to expand to 200GB using a microSD card. It runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and HTC has announced that it will receive an update to Android Nougat 7.0 as soon as it's available.
