HTC is working hard on a new line of smartphones and a successor to the HTC One X9, while information on the upcoming phones continues to leak online. The codenames for the new phones have been posted online and some details have also surfaced.

Leakster @LlabTooFeR has recently revealed that HTC’s upcoming phones will be carrying the codenames HTC Alpine, HTC Ocean Note, and HTC E66 (HTC One X10). The HTC Ocean Note was recently revealed to actually be the HTC U Ultra, part of the HTC U family, teased by the company itself. The phone is said to come with a 6-inch display and no 3.5mm headphone jack.

Reputable leakster @OnLeaks has just revealed that HTC Alpine will be known as HTC U Play and will have a 5.2-inch display and no 3.5mm headphone jack. This means that the phone will pack a USB Type-C port to replace the jack that more and more smartphone makers are now avoiding. The U Ultra will be the flagship smartphone, while the U Play will serve as a phone with specs probably focused on more battery life and increased gaming performance, as the name suggests.

HTC U series will be announced on January 12

HTC U Ultra is expected to launch in three colors, black, blue and white, while others may be added along the way. Not much is known about the HTC U Ultra and U Play, but it won’t be long until the two devices are announced on January 12, right after CES 2017 ends.

As for the mid-range HTC One X10, rumors say it will be released in Q1 2017 and will come with a 5.5-inch display that supports full HD resolution. The phone could run a 1.9GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6755 processor, coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory. It might have a 16MP rear camera and an 8MP camera in the front.
