HTC isn't out yet from the smartphone race, as the Taiwanese company has announced that it has no intention of selling its mobile division. However, HTC will change its smartphone strategy starting next year, although the signs won't be visible until the second half of 2017.

Until then, new reports coming from China claim that HTC plans to launch three new smartphones in Q1 2017. Even though the handset maker is in a very bad situation, the mobile division continues to benefit from the full support of the company's board of directors.

Three smartphones in a quarter is quite a lot for a company that hasn't been successful for so many years. But that's a good sign, as HTC might have an ace up its sleeve, something that we didn't expect from the Taiwanese company.

Anyway, aside from the flagship smartphone that HTC plans to announce in Q1 2017, there will be two more affordable handsets that will be unveiled by the end of March. We're not sure if these devices will be available for purchase in Q1, but if not, they will surely hit the shelves the next quarter.

HTC X10 could be unveiled on January 12, HTC 11 in late February

HTC already confirmed a major launch event for January 12, which means it's been scheduled to take place after Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2017 that's supposed to end on January 8.

The company might introduce its new flagship at a dedicated event, although HTC didn't say what product it would unveil on January 12.

Other sources claim that during the January 12 launch event, the Taiwanese company will in fact reveal the HTC X10, a recently leaked smartphone. If that happens, then the next HTC flagship smartphone will be officially introduced in late February at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017.

We'll just have to wait and see what HTC has in store for its fans. Hopefully, the new phones will become more popular than the current ones.
