HTC has been working on a new smartphone, and while there haven't been many leaks regarding it, it seems that the device might make its appearance next month. HTC has recently trademarked the HTC Bolt name and the smartphone could arrive very soon.

Leakster Evan Blass revealed that HTC Bolt could be made available at US carrier Sprint next month. There are not details on the upcoming smartphone, but the name does seem to indicate that it could be the successor to the previously released HTC ThunderBolt.

However, HTC ThunderBolt was released at Verizon, and without any indication of HTC Bolt's design, it's difficult to say if the two smartphones will bear any similarities.

HTC should officially unveil the HTC Bolt soon

HTC is expected to officially announce the HTC Bolt soon, considering that it will be made available in October at Sprint.

HTC released the HTC ThunderBolt quite a while ago, back in 2011. The smartphone didn't have impressive specs or an over-the-top design, but it did provide a comfortable and affordable option for many consumers out there.

When it comes to specs, the smartphone was LTE-based and carried a price tag of about $249.99 at Verizon Wireless. It came with Android 2.20 Froyo and had the latest HTC Sense version on top. It had a 4.3 WVGA display, with an 8MP rear camera, HD video recording, and a 1.3MP camera in the front.

It ran a 1GHz Snapdragon processor and was equipped with 8GB of internal memory. In addition, users could add up to 32GB of memory via a microSD card. RAM capacity reached 768MB and it came with a removable 1,400mAh battery.

These specs do provide a clue as to how far the smartphone market has come since then. It remains to be seen if HTC Bolt will be the successor to the ThunderBolt, but the device could borrow some design elements from the previous phone.
