HTC has just announced yet another mid-range Android smartphone in the One family. The new One M9s shares part of its name with the company's flagship smartphone, the One M9, but comes with much lower specs.

Still, given its pricing, HTC One M9s remains a great alternative to other mid-range smartphones in the same spec range.

First of all, the One M9s will go on sale in Taiwan on November 20 for $390 outright, GSMDome reports. There's no word whether or not HTC will make the One M9s available outside Taiwan, but let's hope they do.

Just another “One” smartphone with mid-range specs

The main highlight of the HTC One M9s is the 64-bit octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 chipset inside, but other than that and the main camera, the rest of the phone's features is the usual mid-range stuff.

The octa-core CPU is coupled with only 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage expandable up to 2TB via microSD card slot.

At the back, the One M9s packs a decent 13-megapixel photo snapper that features dual-LED flash, autofocus, OIS (optical image stabilization) and video recording. The phone also comes with a secondary 4-UltraPixel camera in the front for selfies and video calls.

HTC One M9s measures 144.6 x 69.7 x 9.6mm and weighs 158g (battery included). Speaking of which, HTC's mid-range smartphone drains energy from a 2,840 mAh battery, which has yet to be rated by the manufacturer.

Also, the handset sports a 5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports full HD (1080p) resolution. Obviously, HTC One M9s will come preloaded with Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system right out of the box, along with HTC Sense UI on top.

Connectivity-wise, the One M9s offers a wide range of options, including 4G TLE, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi, NFC (Near Field Communication), microUSB 2.0 and GPS with AGPS, GLONASS and Beidou.
