If there were a medal for the most moddable smartphone ever, the HTC HD2 should be the first to get it. The old device was launched on the market no less than six years ago with Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional onboard.

In the last couple of the years, modders brought it to present by porting various operating systems, newer than Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional.

If you're not familiar with HTC HD2's prowess, then you should know that the smartphone can run both Windows Phone and Android operating systems.

Just about all Windows Phone versions that came after Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional were ported on the HTC HD2 except for Windows 10 Mobile, which hasn't been released yet.

We reported earlier this year that someone even ported Android 5.0.1 Lollipop to run on HTC HD2, which was inconceivable for Windows Phone fans.

This week, thanks to the efforts of XDA Senior Member macs18max, HTC HD2 runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system.

Not many smartphones are running Marshmallow these days

It's quite an achievement for the legendary smartphones, which is among the few running Marshmallow, despite the fact that the new OS has been released on the market about two months ago.

According to macs18max, the port is based on CyanogenMod 13, and for the time being, it's not ready to be used as a daily driver since it's riddled with bugs and issues. Also, some features are not working yet and need to be enabled in future updates.

If you still happen to own an HTC HD2 and want to give this Android 6.0 Marshmallow build a try, you must have MAGLDR installed so you can flash it.
