The smartphone has already drawn a lot of criticism

Since HTC introduced its mid-range Android smartphone with high-end features, the One A9 people have been noticing that it strongly resembles Apple's iPhone.

Design is one of HTC smartphones' strong points, so the fact that the Taiwanese company has drawn a lot of criticism on this matter should definitely worry its fans.

Well, it looks like HTC's answer came pretty quick in the form of a short statement from Jack Tong, president of HTC North Asia.

Chinese publication Want China Times cites Tong as saying that his company did not copy Apple's iPhone when it comes to design, it's the other way around.

“We're not copying. We made a uni-body metal-clad phone in 2013. It's Apple that copies us in terms of the antenna design on the back,” claims HTC's exec.

He's obviously referring to the HTC One M7, which features a metal body and two stripes on the back side, which are visual trademarks for Apple's iPhones for quite a long time.

“The A9 is made thinner and more lightweight than our previous metal-clad phones. This is a change and evolution, and we're not copying,” explained Tong.

Either way, the One A9 is quite the looker

As many of you probably noticed, HTC's exec doesn't even bother to deny the fact that the One A9 strongly resembles Apple's iPhone. Instead, he points out that it's Apple that stole HTC's design from a previous smartphone.

Bottom line is HTC One A9 is a good-looking smartphone, which is priced decently, at least in the US where it will sell for only $400 (for a limited time).

So, have you decided whether or not to grab HTC's new premium smartphone when it goes on sale next month, or would you rather go for a more expensive iPhone 6s? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section.
