The software update was delayed due to unknown bugs

HTC recently announced that it halted the Android 7.0 Nougat rollout to HTC 10 smartphones because of some unknown bugs. The company started pushing out the software update to some users in November last year, but recently announced that it stopped the rollout.

Leakster LlabTooFeR has recently announced on Twitter that HTC will push out the Android 7.0 Nougat software update to HTC 10 smartphones in Europe. The report refers to both unlocked and carrier-bound HTC 10 phones sold on the continent. The software update with January security patch included should start arriving to users in three weeks from now.

HTC Germany stated last week that the rollout was halted due to unforeseen issues, but didn’t specifically say which. In any case, the bugs must have been severe enough to force the company to halt the rollout of the much anticipated 7.0 Nougat update.

Other regions should get the update soon

It’s worth mentioning that the latest report refers to HTC 10 phones sold in Europe, but other regions should get the update at about the same time.

The 7.0 Nougat update will bring lots of new features to HTC phones, including improved battery life, multi-window mode and revamped notifications area with quick reply from the pulldown bar. In December last year, HTC confirmed the 7.0 Nougat update for its HTC One M9 phones and started the rollout for unlocked models.

HTC’s latest smartphones, the U Ultra and U Play, came with 7.0 Nougat out of the box, but its last year flagship ran Android 6.0 Marshmallow upon its launch. The phone came with a 12MP UltraPixel rear camera and a 5MP selfie snapper with OIS. It had a 5.2-inch Super LCS display with support for Quad HD and 4GB of RAM with a 64-bit quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor. The phone draws power from a 3,000mAh battery and is sold with 32GB or 64GB of internal storage.
