HP attended the MWC show in Barcelona this year without any big announcements, but the company presented some new products at its booth, including a redesigned Elite X3 and an upgraded Lap Dock.

The new Windows phone is undoubtedly the one that’s more important for fans of the platform, and although no press release or official specs were provided, we finally get a closer look at the device thanks to a video posted by Notebook Italia on YouTube (and which you can watch at the end of the article).

Specs are still missing, but as you can see for yourselves, the Elite X3 seems to feature minor improvements, such as a redesigned bottom side that no longer features Bang and Olufsen speakers, but a more traditional approach.

This is probably in an attempt to make the Elite X3 a more affordable product, though B&O speakers clearly made it a special device with a very premium feeling.

Overall, the new Elite X3 looks very similar to the existing model, although more improvements could be made under the hood where some upgraded specs are likely to be offered.

The current HP Elite X3 model

The HP Elite X3 comes with a 5.96-inch screen and features a resolution of 1440x2560 pixels and Gorilla Glass 4 protection. The processor is a Snapdragon 820, currently one of the most powerful chips on the market, and it's paired with 4GB RAM.

In terms of storage, buyers get 64GB, but microSD card support is also offered, and so is a 16-megapixel camera with autofocus and LED Flash.

The HP Elite X3 comes with all kinds of premium touches that might be missing on the upgraded model if the final goal is indeed to cut the price, such as IP67 certification with water resistance of up to 1 meter and 30 minutes, plus an MIL-STD 810G rating that makes it salt, fog, humidity, transport shock and thermal shock resistant.
