It’s no surprise that Microsoft wants everyone to move to Windows 10 as fast as possible, and the company even has a goal of bringing the new operating system on 1 billion devices by 2017.

And to achieve this, Redmond obviously needs to upgrade existing machines to Windows 10, so every single video or guide that the company rolls out can make a difference for this final purpose.

Recently, the software giant has published a video showing how to upgrade a Surface device to Windows 10, trying to assist IT admins as they install the new OS on their organization’s tablets.

Generally, the process of upgrading to Windows 10 is just a matter of clicks because all the necessary files are automatically downloaded and deployed on your computer by Microsoft, but in the case of organizations, the process could take a little bit more time. So this new video comes to lend a hand in this regard and make the transition easier.

Microsoft Surface and Windows 10

While the new Surface models are being shipped with Windows 10 pre-installed, the older versions were all running Windows 8.1, so this is where Microsoft must focus all of its efforts.

The Windows 10 upgrade is available free of charge for all devices running Windows 8.1, including all Surface models (except RT and Surface 2, of course), so the process is all automatic and doesn’t involve too much user input.

The new Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book also come with Windows 10, and more than that, they even have features that are specifically optimized for the new operating system. Windows Hello, for instance, which is the new biometric feature available in Windows 10, requires hardware that’s only available on these two new models, both of which are now going on sale in stores across the world.
