Windows 10 build 15060 was released only a couple of hours ago and it brings us one step closer to the official RTM version that’s expected to be compiled anytime soon.

But since it’s a preview build of the Creators Update, this release also includes some known issues, one of which points to a bug that could prevent users from installing it.

Dona Sarkar, head of the Windows Insider program, explained in the release notes of build 15060 that some users might hit error 8024a112 during the install process.

How to fix the error

The workaround is as simple as it could be: users are required to manually reboot the system after the Windows 10 build 15060 installation fails with error code 8024a112. If this doesn’t work, you must shut down the computer, power it back on and then re-attempt to install the build once again.

“If your PC fails to install this build on reboot with the error 8024a112, reboot manually again. If your PC appears to hang during the reboot, power your PC off and back on and the install will proceed,” it’s mentioned in the release notes of this new build.

Additionally, there’s a known issue that points to error “Some updates were cancelled. We’ll keep trying in case new updates become available” in Windows Update. In this case, some other steps are involved, including the removal of the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\Auto Update\RequestedAppCategories\8b24b027-1dee-babb-9a95-3517dfb9c552

These bugs are very likely to be addressed in the coming builds and they should be fixed before the Creators Update is shipped to retail users, which, according to unconfirmed information, should happen on April 11.

Microsoft will continue working on bug fixes and performance improvements even after the RTM build is shipped to users participating in the Windows Insider program, so several patches should be ready to download on day 1 when the new OS version is released.
