Microsoft says it’s already working on a full fix

Microsoft has recently released new Windows 11 builds to the Beta channel (this time the company uses a different approach and ships two separate builds to users in this ring), but some insiders might end up hitting a critical error causing cyclical crashes.

According to the software giant itself, this is a known issue, and a full fix is already being worked on.

Several Windows 11 components could be impacted, including the explorer.exe, Microsoft says.

“We’re working on the fix for an issue resulting in a small number of Insiders in the Beta Channel experiencing cyclical crashes in Windows UI components (like explorer.exe), making it appear that the screen is flashing,” the company notes.

And while a full fix is already in development, Microsoft says insiders themselves can resolve the whole thing by simply running the following command in PowerShell.

Add-AppxPackage -Register -Path C:\Windows\SystemApps\Microsoft.UI.Xaml.CBS_8wekyb3d8bbwe\AppxManifest.xml -DisableDevelopmentMode -ForceApplicationShutdown   Keep in mind that you must be running this command in an elevated PowerShell window (with administrator rights).

The latest Windows 11 Beta builds, namely 22621.290 and 22622.290, come with a series of very important fixes, including for Windows Update.

“We fixed an issue that causes the Take Photo button to disappear when you use a common file dialog to open the camera. We fixed an issue that prevents devices from receiving an offer from Windows Update for the same extension driver when that extension driver is already installed without the base driver. We fixed an issue that causes install from media (IFM) creation for Active Directory to fail with the error, “2101 JET_errCallbackFailed,” the software giant explains in the release notes.

At this point, there’s no ETA as to when Microsoft could ship a fix for the crashes detailed above, but there’s a chance the bug would be resolved with the next beta build.
