Microsoft provides workarounds for two build 15019 issues

Windows 10 build 15019 was released on Friday with quite a lot of improvements, but also with some issues that could make it more difficult for insiders to install it.

Microsoft has confirmed that there are two different bugs that could prevent Windows insiders from installing the recently-released build 15019.

First of all, some users are hit with a message saying Error 0xC1900401 or “build not yet available,” but the company explains that this has already been fixed and there is no need for anything from the user side.

“There was a snag in the publishing pipeline.  No manual efforts are required by Insiders.  We have found the publishing issue and are remedying it.  You may scan for updates occasionally and as the update for your particular country/region is published, you will be able to download accordingly,” the company says.

“Initializing…”

The second problem, which we also encountered on one of our computers here at Softpedia, caused the update scanning process for build 15019 to hang on a message reading “Initializing…” without any progress that would indicate downloading the build.

Microsoft says that only some people are experiencing the problem and it looks like the workaround is as simple as it could be.

Just launch the Services panel from the Start menu (type “services” in the Start menu), right-click Windows Update and hit the option that reads “Stop.” Restart your PC and then check again for updates, and everything should work correctly. We didn’t actually reboot the computer, but only restarted the Windows Update service and everything worked correctly after that.

Microsoft says that in case this doesn’t make any difference, you should repeat the process with the Delivery Optimization service, in addition to Windows Update. This should help address the problem and get your computer able to download and install the new build.

Before blaming Microsoft for shipping builds with bugs, remember that this is the Windows Insider program whose purpose is specifically to help Microsoft isolate issues and fix them before they make it to public users.
