Microsoft has officially started the rollout of Windows 10 May 2021 Update to non-insider devices, with the first production computers receiving the new feature update as we speak.

Just like it happened when Microsoft released the previous Windows 10 feature update, downloading Windows 10 May 2021 Update only comes down to a few clicks, though alternative methods are also provided.

So everything you need to do to get Windows 10 version 21H1 today (if your computer is eligible) is to head over to Windows Update and manually check for updates. Microsoft calls users who manually check for updates “seekers,” so clicking the check for updates button triggers the seeking experience, prompting its servers to offer Windows 10 version 21H1 to compatible devices.

Worth knowing, however, is that the rollout is still in its early phases right now, so the availability is still pretty limited, as Microsoft just wants to make sure everything works according to the plan.

Also, if the company comes across any issue, it automatically pauses the rollout for certain configurations, and this is why some users end up unable to download the new feature update.

“In the current environment, we know that you continue to rely on your PCs more than ever. As a result, we are initially taking a measured seeker-based approach to the rollout of the May 2021 Update,” Microsoft explains.

“We are throttling availability up over the coming weeks to ensure a reliable download experience for all, so the update may not be offered to you right away. Additionally, some devices might have a compatibility issue for which a safeguard hold is in place. In these cases, we will not offer the update until we are confident that you will have a good update experience.”

Devices running the latest Windows 10 version 2004 or 20H2 will install the new feature update like a monthly quality update (cumulative update).
