14 DAY TRIAL // The first words that come to mind after watching the Morbid's launch trailer are “gore” and “ruthless.” The same words can be used to describe just about every soulslike game, but perhaps not in the same order.
Developed by Still Running and published by Merge Games, Morbid: The Seven Acolytes is described as a horrorpunk action RPG with heavy Lovecraftian influences and Cronenbergian gore. Featuring pixelated visuals, Morbid lets players explore a diverse fantasy world where epic bosses encounters are mixed with rich RPG mechanics.
Think of everything that happens in-between boss fights as a chance to level up your character and get acquainted with your own playstyle. Morbid promises an abundance of lore through the world's characters and NPCs as players explore and face off in challenging combat encounters across an array of open environments.
If any about Morbid: The Seven Acolytes piqued your interest, you'll be happy to know that a free demo is now available via Steam. You'll be able to play the first few levels throughout the entirety of PAX Online 2020, which ends on September 20.
Gameplay-wise, Morbid promises to offer players an epic experience, brutal boss fights, and the possibility to explore a diverse array of environments. On top of that, Morbid will feature deep, immersive lore with NPC to meet throughout the world.
Apparently, the game includes perks like Blessings of Magratheus, which lets players level up, giving them the flexibility to build a character to match their playstyle. The final version of Morbid will feature more than 25 unique melee weapons, such as swords, axes, maces, spears, two-handers, as well as several guns ranging from crossbows, shotguns, and rifles.
Morbid: The Seven Acolytes is scheduled for release later this year on PC (via Steam), PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. An exact release date is likely to be unveiled in the coming weeks, so stay tuned for more on this one.
