Horizon: Zero Dawn, one of the most widely expected titles that are exclusive to the PlayStation 4, is set to be delayed for the first few months of 2017. The development team at Guerrilla Games and publisher Sony took this decision in order to make sure that the game delivers the level of quality that the community is expecting from it.

The information comes from the Twitter account of a known insider, whose messages have been collated by those NeoGAF, and his wording seems to suggest that the two companies are aiming to make the coming game particularly good looking on the new version of the PS4, which might be codenamed NEO.

Horizon: Zero Dawn never received an official launch window from Sony, but the company suggested that it was using the title to anchor its autumn 2016 launch schedule.

Rumors are saying that the delivery of new PlayStation 4 hardware means that all developers will have to create two versions of their coming titles, one for the base device and another for the NEO, which should support 1080p and other graphics improvements.

Apparently, the requirement has led to criticism from some studios who do not want to spend extra resources on the game creation process for the platform.

Horizon: Zero Dawn will take players into the far future

The universe of the title envisions a world that's dominated by mechanical creatures, including powerful dinosaurs, who move in herds and have forced the remaining humans of the era to develop new ways to hunt.

Horizon: Zero Dawn will focus on Aloy, a hunter and capable archer who will learn new ways to deal with her mechanized enemies and will develop unique ways to take them down, including traps and stealth.

Guerrilla Games says that its first new intellectual property since Killzone will mix action and role-playing elements and will allow players to explore a big open world when they do not have a clear mission to deal with.

The studio has not offered any details about the narrative of the coming video game.

The development team has long been known for its ability to create impressive visual experiences for PlayStation platforms, even if the gameplay component of its shooter series was sometimes criticized.

Horizon: Zero Dawn is designed not to have any loading screens, and the demo shown during E3 revealed a beautiful world and some impressive designs for both the main character and for the associated electricity-powered dinosaurs.
