A sequel to Horizon: Zero Dawn is probably one of the most anticipated games of the year. Guerilla Games' smash hit launched three years ago will be coming to PC this summer in a complete edition form.

But the most important piece of news regarding the franchise is that the game is getting a sequel sooner than we thought and it's called Horizon: Forbidden West. Revealed last week by Sony and Guerilla Games, Forbidden West continues Aloy's adventures as she moves west to a far-future America where she will have to fight new, fearsome robots.

The open-world action-RPG will retain the main character, as well as some of the important NPCs that appear in the first game like Sylens, who's voiced by none other than Lance Reddick. The trailer showcased during The Future of Gaming event has Aloy exploring underwater environments and fighting never before seen machines.

Aquatic robots are now roaming the waters and Aloy must stay clear of these powerful machines since it doesn't seem like she can fight underwater. From what we see in the trailer, the ocean hides dormant cities waiting to be discovered and probably valuable gear and riches.

Horizon: Forbidden West covers all types of geographical landscapes, from cliffs and jungles to deserts and deep waters, which means the folks at Guerilla Games have upped the ante in this upcoming sequel.

The one thing that we would have liked to learn is when exactly Horizon: Forbidden West is supposed to launch. Unfortunately, Sony and Guerilla Games kept the release data under wraps, although we do know that the game will be launched on PlayStation 5.

Just like the other PlayStation 5 titles announced last week, there was no mention of whether or not they will be available on current-gen consoles, but many of them are likely to land on PlayStation 4 on the same day, at least that's what we're hoping for.
