Honor 6X is a pretty decent mid-range smartphone that sells for around $250 in the United States. For that money, you get quite a lot, including Android 7.0 Nougat if you wait one more month.

The Chinese company announced last month at CES 2017 that it would bring the Honor 6X in the U.S., a few months after the smartphone was officially introduced in China. During the press conference, Honor promised the handset would be upgraded to Android 7.0 Nougat in Q2.

Honor 6X ships with Android 6.0 Marshmallow and EMUI 4.1 on top of it, but once Android 7.0 Nougat arrives, the smartphone will also be updated to EMUI 5.0.

Even though Honor was vague when it confirmed Android 7.0 Nougat for its mid-range smartphone would be released sometime in Q2, it looks like the company has now clarified its previous statement.

AndroidPolice reports the Chinese handset maker has confirmed the Honor 6X will receive the highly-anticipated Android 7.0 Nougat update earlier than expected.

The new EMUI for Honor 6X will be arriving next month, and it’s been updated based on consumer feedback. In case you or your team is planning a full review any time soon, it might be worthwhile to wait!

Basically, this means that Honor 6X owners in the United States should expect Android 7.0 Nougat to hit their devices no later than March. Since it will most likely be a staged rollout, it will take a couple of weeks until it reaches all Honor 6X devices.

Still, we'll be keeping an eye out for any additional information on the matter and will let you know once Honor starts seeding the update.

Even though the confirmation was meant for the US market, we're expecting Honor to expand the availability of the Android 7.0 Nougat update to all countries soon afterward.
