Video game developer IO Interactive and publisher Square Enix are announcing that the new Hitman video game is now delayed and will see an initial launch in March of next year, with the companies aiming to use the extra time in order to improve the overall experience and to deliver more content for fans to explore.

The news will come as a big disappointment for all those who wanted to play the adventures of Agent 47 this fall, but if the game needs more work, it might be a good idea for the developers to get a few more months to improve it.

The official announcement explains that IO Interactive wants to create a bigger and denser world than in any previous installment in the Hitman series, and that means giving a large amount of attention to all the included details.

The studio explains, "We want to make absolutely sure you all get the best possible experience when you join, so we’ve made the difficult decision to move the initial release date to March 2016. These few extra months will mean we can add more to the launch content of the game, more than we had originally planned, and then follow with a tighter frequency of updates, which ultimately will create a better game for everyone."

The new Hitman aims to deliver interesting challenges for gamers

IO Interactive claims that the Paris Showstopper mission in the new title is designed to offer a lot of extra choices and content to explore when compared to Absolution.

It's nice to see the company acknowledging that a delay is not a good sign for the series, but they also state that the quality will be enhanced because of it, and the fan community will be happy with these choices when the new Hitman arrives next year.

Apparently, more details about the release schedule will be shared next week, and the game will also get more info about world size and other core elements.

The new Hitman will be available on the PC, the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4, with some extra content associated with the Sony home console.

IO Interactive aims to offer new missions for the title for free after launch, but there are no plans to deliver a Season Pass or microtransactions.
