Users can easily switch from VoIP to GSM cell networks

Paragon Wireless announced earlier this month the launch of the world's first SIP-based Windows mobile dual-mode handset at the VON show in Boston.

The hipi-2200 smartphone is the next generation in integrated dual-mode handsets. The device utilizes Paragon Wireless' innovative VoWLAN / GSM dual-mode voice technology, which means that users can switch from VoIP to GSM very easy. The hipi-2200 features Windows Mobile 5.0 operating system, built in support for email, web browsing, MP3/MP4 player, and camcorder/recorder. The 1100mAh Li-ion battery offers users up to 4 hours of talk time or 100 hours of standby time, with both GSM and WiFi radios simultaneously active.

Other features of the hipi-2200 include: support for quad-band GSM (850/900/1800/1900) and Class-10 GPRS, support for 802.11g WLAN and comprehensive SIP-based VoIP functionality over WLAN, WLAN AP-to-AP roaming in both active talking mode and idle mode, Seamless handover between GSM and VoIP, comprehensive security support such as VPN, VoIP over VPN, 802.1x, WPA and WEP, full active syncing capabilities with calendar, contacts, email and other related programs, and integrated Windows Media Player.
