Video game developer Blizzard is eager to create synergies between its various video game properties by announcing that the next character to arrive for Heroes of the Storm will be Tracer from the upcoming third-person shooter Overwatch.

The official site explains, "Equipped with the chronal accelerator designed by her gorilla scientist pal Winston and a pair of deadly pulse pistols to match, this highly mobile ranged Assassin zips around the Battlegrounds of the Nexus, catching enemy heroes off guard and then vanishing before they have a chance to react."

Tracer is the first hero who can move while attacking in Heroes of the Storm and there are three ways to upgrade her unique Heroic ability to make her a useful member of a team.

It's unclear whether the studio is planning to add more heroes from Overwatch to the Multiplayer Online Battle Arena title in the future or if any characters are moving in the other direction anytime soon.

Blizzard says the new character will arrive on April 19 for all those who place a pre-order for the Origins Edition of Overwatch, and the general population will be able to buy her one week later.

Heroes of the Storm is preparing for a big summer championship

The development team has announced a lot of details about the global competition, which will have its finals between June 18 and 20 in Jonkoping, Sweden, with a total prize pool of 500,000 dollars (430,000 Euro).

A number of qualifying competitions for Heroes of the Storm will take place starting in late April in each region of the world, and interested gamers can prepare to take part and compete for prizes.

Blizzard will probably deliver at least one more major update for the MOBA to prepare it for the coming competition, which might arrive before the end of this week.

Heroes of the Storm is at the moment competing with the likes of League of Legends from Riot Games and DOTA 2 from Valve.

Blizzard is also preparing to launch Overwatch on May 24, a team based shooter that pits teams of six players against each other in a variety of maps and modes.

The game will be offered for full price, with the studio set to introduce more content, including extra heroes, all through the year, and until then animated shorts, a comic book series and a graphic novel will be offered to expand the lore of the game.
