The development team at Blizzard might be focused on Overwatch and its complex beta at the moment, but they also have plenty of resources dedicated to Heroes of the Storm, which is offering an entirely new Recruit a Friend system as part of the most recent update.

After a short maintenance period, gamers who are playing the Multiplayer Online Battle Arena experience can use a unique link to get another player into the Nexus and both of those involved will get access to a range of rewards as the newcomer explores the title and improves his performance.

To celebrate the launch of the feature, the developers are also delivering a 50 percent bonus for the experience earned by all gamers in Heroes of the Storm until 10 AM Pacific Standard Time on Wednesday, December 16.

This will allow all members of the community to unlock more content, although it clearly favors those who are new to the game and makes it easy for them to get access to favorite heroes.

Blizzard is also saying that all the price cuts that were introduced for heroes, mounts, and skins in the official store for Black Friday will be extended until the end of the year, including the 360 Day Stimpack.

The lower prices will also be in effect for all the new content that's introduced for Heroes of the Storm until the end of 2015, which makes it easy for all players to make sure that they shape the experience however they see fit.

The Powerhouse bundles are no longer offered in the official store.

The core MOBA mechanics are also getting tweaks

Blizzard is also saying that it is eliminating all talent gating from the video game, which means players will be able to access all hero talents regardless of the level of their account.

The free hero offer for Heroes of the Storm is also expanded, which means players will be able to use ten free hero slots during one week rather than seven for those who have made progress in the MOBA.

Complete newcomers will be able to use six free Heroes and can then unlock extra ones as they gain levels.

Blizzard also announces that it has fixed "an issue that could cause the Cho’gall Buddy Brawl Special Event Quests to visually persist for players who had already completed them."

Blizzard is not saying whether it has plans to add any entirely new content for Heroes of the Storm during 2015 or when the MOBA will get access to a major fresh patch focused on gameplay.

The video game has managed to offer an interesting alternative to both DOTA 2 from Valve and League of Legends from Riot Games.

Heroes of the Storm incorporates a range of characters taken from classic Blizzard properties, from Starcraft to World of Warcraft, and uses a classic free-to-play business model.

Many fans of the game are asking Blizzard to find a way to improve the Matchmaking Rating formula in the coming months to make Heroes of the Storm a better balanced experience.
