The official system requirements have been disclosed

Android app support on Windows 11 is now in public preview for users in the United States, and while Microsoft is working on bringing this feature to everybody out there, there are several requirements that your system must meet before being able to run it.

First and foremost, these requirements concern the Amazon Appstore, which is the one providing access to Android apps – the download takes place through the Microsoft Store but the download links are powered by Amazon.

Microsoft’s system requirements page mentions Windows 10 version 22000 or higher, but of course, this means you’ll need Windows 11 (which itself requires at least 4GB of RAM).

However, if you want to run Android apps on Windows 11, you must have at least 8 GB of RAM, so devices that only meet the minimum system requirements to run the operating system might have a hard time getting access to this feature. Microsoft says 16GB is the recommended RAM amount to make sure everything is running just fine on your device.

Currently available in the United States, as per Microsoft’s requirements, the Android app support also requires a compatible processor, which includes an Intel Core i3 8th Generation, AMD Ryzen 3000, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8c, or newer.

1,000 apps already available for download

Microsoft says the new feature comes with access to over 1,000 Android apps, including the most popular titles in the majority of categories, including games.

“Windows has always been about enabling you to work and play your way. And what makes Windows, well, Windows, is the variety of apps available to let you do just that. Since the launch of Windows 11, the Microsoft Store has attracted more creators and users around the world; today we are adding over 1,000 more apps and games in partnership with the Amazon Appstore,” it said.

No further information has been offered as to when the feature could go live for more users in other regions.
