Hilton will pull its app from the store very soon

Microsoft doesn’t seem to believe that users, developers, and partners need an update on its mobile vision, so the company remains tight-lipped on everything concerning the future of its mobile platform.

As a result, not only that users are jumping ship to Android and iOS but more and more devs are also pulling their apps from the store, and Hilton is the latest name to do that.

The company has announced in a message posted in the Windows Store that it’s “saying goodbye” to Windows Phone, offering the same recommendation as all the other developers who decided to abandon the platform: turn to the website instead because it provides the same features as the app.

“IMPORTANT MESSAGE: We'll be saying goodbye to the HHonors Windows Phone app soon, but you can still find all our great travel-planning tools and your HHonors member benefits on the Web. We'll update you with more details here soon,” the notification posted in the Windows Store reads.

Why sticking around?

The app that’s being pulled is Hilton HHonors, which is aimed at travelers who want to use all their member benefits and travel planning tools right on their phones. Unfortunately, this will no longer be possible if customers have a Windows phone, but they can still do it using the web version of the service.

Unfortunately for pretty much everyone involved in the ecosystem, Hilton isn’t the only name saying goodbye to Windows Phone, as some other top names did the same in the last couple of months. Amazon, PayPal, eBay, and others have all decided to give up on Windows phones and focus instead on Android and iOS for one big reason: the dropping market share of Microsoft’s mobile operating system.

And as if this declining share weren’t enough, Microsoft is also keeping details about its mobile vision completely secret, so it’s very hard for developers to find a reason to stick around with Windows phones.
