Microsoft’s upcoming Windows 11 leaked to the web earlier this week, and in addition to revealing several new features that the company has been working on, this unexpected OS image also provides us with an early look at the wallpapers the new Windows is going to use.

Needless to say, there are several of them, and to be honest, they look beautiful, especially because they come with several variants to adapt to the light and dark modes in Windows 11.

Someone on reddit has managed to extract them all, though keep in mind these wallpapers are part of an early build of Windows 11, so there’s a chance other backgrounds would be part of the final release.

Windows 11 coming this year

In the meantime, Microsoft has remained completely tight-lipped on everything related to Windows 11.

The company has already announced a major Windows event on June 24, suggesting it plans some pretty big news but without saying a single thing about a completely new version of the operating system.

We already knew that Microsoft was working on a massive Windows 10 update due in the fall of 2021 and codenamed Sun Valley, but as it turns out, the company has slightly adjusted its strategy and instead of shipping a new feature update, it’s now getting ready to release a full new OS version.

Sun Valley therefore becomes the codename of Windows 11, with the official debut to happen in the fall of 2021, possibly in October or November.

Users who are enrolled in the Windows Insider program should start being provided with Windows 11 preview builds shortly after the June 24 event, so expect more information on what is supposed to come in this operating system to land in the coming weeks, especially as Microsoft acknowledges the work on this major release.
