14 DAY TRIAL // Henry Cavill is a very popular (and handsome) actor, but he makes it a point of not becoming a celebrity, so he does his best to fly under the radar when he’s not promoting a new movie. Despite his efforts, here he is, back in the headlines for his personal life.
According to British tabloid the Daily Mail, the “Man of Steel” star is dating a 19-year-old college student. He is 31 years old, and the age gap is apparently wide enough for some people to feel creeped out by it and, more importantly, to say so on dedicated forums and social media.
Henry Cavill is off the market
According to the report, Cavill’s girlfriend has been identified as Tara King, who is 19 and a freshman college student. The two were photographed together earlier this month, at a Rugby World Cup game, but because they had not been seen together in public before, they weren’t linked romantically on the spot, as it usually happens in such cases.
“The couple are believed to have met in August at fashionable London nightclub Mahiki. According to social media, they have been seeing each other ever since,” the Daily Mail reports.
Friends from her private school describe her as very outgoing, which made her very popular with boys, one such friend says. She’s fun and athletic, and plays netball and hockey.
The tab reached out to Cavill’s publicist for comment but wouldn’t get one. They also called King’s mother, who responded by saying that whether Tara was dating Henry was a question they should ask her daughter, not her.
Dating outside the industry for a change
As noted above, Henry Cavill is not the kind of celebrity who would call the paparazzi to have his picture taken or overshare on personal issues in promotional interviews.
Still, because he is playing the role of the popular Superman character, he is often hounded by the paps and occasionally makes it in the tabloids.
His previous two relationships probably taught him that dating someone from the industry only doubles the attention, no matter how hard he tries to deflect it.
He dated martial arts expert turned actress Gina Carano for quite some time, but eventually split amid reports that their busy schedules made the relationship too difficult.
He also briefly dated Kaley Cuoco right before “Man of Steel” opened in theaters, which garnered more attention than the Carano romance ever did, because of suspicion that it was a PR set-up. The fact that they would get photographed by the paparazzi on a daily basis was the first indication in this sense, as Cavill is famously media-shy.
