14 DAY TRIAL // Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is finally making its way onto Xbox One, promising enhanced visuals and 4k support.
Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is one of the best games of 2017, even if it might not have registered phenomenal sales. It’s a single player game with no multiplayer elements, so that could have had on impact, but in this case numbers of are all that important.
What the Ninja Theory managed to pull off with Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice was to raise awareness regarding mental health, because, at its core, the game is about a woman going to physical and mental struggles, oftentimes experiencing psychosis.
In fact, the developers worked with academics in neuroscience to understand exactly how this very real problem affects people and how it’s experienced. Translating that into a game, set up in Norse mythology, makes both great gameplay and a fascinating exploration of the human psyche.
Finally coming to Xbox One
Until now, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice was available only for PC and PlayStation 4, but Xbox One players will finally be able to play it. Furthermore, it’s optimized to work on both versions of the console, as it comes with three enhanced modes.
“Hellblade supports HDR and the game is enhanced for Xbox One X, with players having the choice of three enhanced modes to select from: Enhanced Visuals mode offers extra FX and visual quality throughout the experience, High Framerate mode runs the game at 60fps, and High-Resolution mode runs the game with dynamic resolutions up to 4K,” Ninja Theory explains.
If you’re interested in this game, you can already preorder it from the Microsoft Store, and you can notice that both the Xbox Live and Xbox One X Enhanced options are marked. You don’t need the Xbox One X version of the console to play it, although it’s clear that it’s best experienced on that version.
