Gamers will have to carefully spend political points

The developers at Paradox Development Studio are ready to talk about the political system that gamers will have to control in the coming Hearts of Iron IV, with a focus on how it has evolved as more work was done on the new grand strategy title.

Players will be able to use Political Power as a sort of currency, which will be used both for internal changes to the government and for external diplomacy that aims to interfere with the actions of rivals.

A new diary on the official forums explains that "It is used to influence other nations, support political parties, change laws, appoint which design companies develop your equipment, appointing military staff, justifying war to your population and introducing national focuses. Default gain is 2 PP every day, while all ticking activities cost 1 each. Germany as an example though has Adolf Hitler, whose special ability (being a dictator) is to increase the PP gain by 50%."

All countries in Hearts of Iron IV will have national spirits, which are there at the start of the game or are acquired by using focus.

For example, Germany will initially have Bitter Loser, which binds them to fascism and gives them some army advantages, while France begins with Victors of WWI, which makes it harder for them to research new ideas.

Government in Hearts of Iron IV focuses on three laws and adviser appointments

Gamers can control trade, economy and conscription, each of them with prerequisites that will be easier to meet as the game progresses.

There are also three slots in which political advisors can be placed, including a new set of revolutionaries and the ministers that gamers already know from previous entries in the franchise.

For Research & Production in Hearts of Iron IV, gamers will have six designer slots, which offer research bonuses for a technology type.

For the Military Staff, players will be able to appoint a Chief of Army, a Chief of Navy, a Chief of Air, and 3 slots for Military High Command.

The development team wants to offer gamers a range of options in order to tweak their nations and their armies in any way that they see fit.

Hearts of Iron IV will be launched only on the PC and is set to arrive in the first few months of 2016, after a series of delays.
