Hearthstone's ninth expansion, The Boomsday Project will be unleashed on August 7 on all supported platforms, including Windows and Mac PCs, iOS, Android tablets, and mobile phones, Blizzard announced today.

Just like the previous expansion, The Boomsday Project brings 135 new cards, along with brand new gameplay mechanics. Players who pre-purchase the special 50-pack bundle will also receive the Mecha-Jaraxxus card back and a free golden class Legendary.

Additionally, players can purchase an 80-pack Mega Bundle to also get the new playable Warlock Hero, Mecha-Jaraxxus, Eredar Lord of the scientific community. Keep in mind though that these one-time-only bundles are available for €49,99 and €79,99, respectively, and can each be purchased once per account.

The Boomsday Project adds nine new, immensely powerful Legendary Spells, which will be awestruck by Projects, spells with wondrous effects that appear to benefit both players. However, appearances can be deceiving and one of the players can end up at a loss.

Another type of new cards introduced in the new expansion is the Omega. These cards are meant to give players incredible rewards when played at 10 mana crystals. One of the new keyword that will make its debut in The Boomsday Project is “magnetic,” which allows players to merge Mech minions, combining their attack, health, and abilities. Combining mechs may have fearsome results as the new amalgamated automatons can wreck havok on the battlefield.

Along with the new card and gameplay mechanics, Blizzard will launch a new single-player Hearthstone experience called The Puzzle Lab. More details on the single-player campaign will be shared closer to launch.

Last but not least, if you can't afford to purchase any of the bundles Blizzard made available, you'll be pleased to know that The Boomsday Project card packs will be winnable in Hearthstone’s Arena mode, and players can purchase them with in-game gold at the same prices as Hearthstone’s other card packs.
