Warner Media has finally announced the highly-anticipated availability expansion of HBO Max to more European countries after the service originally launched in Spain and a bunch of other countries in October last year.

This time, HBO Max will go live in a total of 15 countries as soon as March 8, and the parent company promises that even more countries will follow next.

The regions that are getting the service next month are Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Moldova, Montenegro, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, and Slovenia.

HBO Max will eventually expand to six more European countries, including Greece and Turkey, later this year, Warner Media promises, but no further specifics have been shared as to when this is projected to happen.

HBO Max availability expanding slowly but surely

But thanks to today’s announcement, HBO Max will become available in a total of 61 countries, so while the expansion is happening much slower than subscribers across the world wanted, at least it’s now covering more large markets in Europe.

“The global roll out of HBO Max continues at pace as we launch the platform in 15 additional European countries, taking us to 61 territories worldwide. We are delivering on our strategy to go direct-to-consumer around the world which coupled with our beloved content will give us the scale needed to be one of the top global streaming platforms,” Johannes Larcher, Head of HBO Max International, said.

Needless to say, HBO Max is betting big on its content in the fight against Netflix, and without a doubt, the original series that are exclusive to its subscribers are playing a key role in this regard. These originals include a series of new titles, such as  Todo Lo Otro, Kamikaze, Lust, Ruxx, The Thaw, The Informant and Garcia!.
