Gamers also get a first look at the coming Grifball

Developer 343 Industries has offered details about the lore foundations of the coming Hammer Storm content drop for Halo 5: Guardians and is now ready to introduce more information about the way it will change the multiplayer experience in the shooter.

The new Torque map and more elements from the update will be featured in a live stream that will be aired on Tuesday, February 23 at 3 PM Pacific Standard Time, which might be an indication that gamers will get access to it before the end of next week.

The new Arena map receives its first official screenshot from 343 Industries and members of the development team explain how they worked to make the asymmetrical map an interesting new battleground for those who want more Player versus Player action.

Justin Oaksford is quoted by the official site as explaining that "With interior spaces, there’s a difficult balance that has to be struck between simplicity and functionality. Sometimes the spaces have a vague purpose, so we try to imply little stories about what certain doors are used for, or how doors would open/close if they were active. It’s those details that can help ground ambiguous areas."

When it comes to REQ content, Hammer Storm for Halo 4: Guardians is adding a range of great-looking armor options, including Marauder, Decimator, Helioskrill Bloodgorger, Jumpmaster Dispatcher, Shinobi Hearthless and Fury.

In terms of new guns, players can gain access to new skins and a powerful gravity hammer to smite their foes in cross-quarters action.

An all-new social playlist is being introduced, which will feature new game types, community-created modes and more will be featured, with the studio also working on improving matchmaking for it based on feedback.

Hammer Storm for Halo 5: Guardians also delivers three game modes

343 Industries plans to offer a first full look at the Grifball mode during the coming live stream, and until then fans will have to contend themselves with just one official screenshot from it.

Hammer Storm will also include other gameplay tweaks, which will probably be officially revealed when the content drop is live, as well as tweaks to the user interface and more content for gamers to use in the Forge to create their maps and modes.

Halo 5: Guardians is the first title in the series created from the ground up to take advantage of the power of the Xbox One and Microsoft needs to keep the title interesting for fans for as long as possible.

All the downloadable content packs for the shooter will be linked to the multiplayer side, and no new details about the future of Master Chief will be revealed until the next experience in the series arrives.

New maps, REQ items and more will be offered every month for free this year, and fans should also get ready for the coming finals of the World Championship, set to take place during March.

Recently Microsoft announced new collaborations with toymakers, which will allow gamers to pick up new figurines based on the Halo universe.
