Gamers will get them in the Infinity Armory DLC

The development team at 343 Industries and publisher Microsoft have already revealed some of the content that gamers will be able to get in the coming Infinity Armory update for Halo 5: Guardians, which is scheduled to arrive before the end of the month.

Two of the most interesting additions are two new Mjolnir armor variations, called Achilles and Atlas, which have a solid connection to the lore of the series, according to an official site update.

Both of them can be unlocked in Infinity Armory by reaching certain milestones for a character in battle, but gamers who covet them will also need to be part of one of the Spartan Companies fans have organized.

343 Industries says the Atlas, true to its name, is heavy and designed for tactical assaults in high-risk situations and urban areas, which makes it the equivalent of a tank on the battlefield, able to both take and deliver a lot of punishment.

The studio says the helmet attached to the costume is created with reliability in mind, which means that it might not feature the most recent technology.

The Achilles armor in Infinity Armory is even more interesting, designed for the most capable of warriors, who know how to temper their passion during combat.

343 Industries explains that the helmet features an "AI that lies within the branching lattice of the Achilles' neural interface gnaws at the mind of its partner. No Spartan can stand alone against its urgings of unbridled excess, but through bonds of loyalty and duty they can be held at bay."

The studio is also hinting that in 2016 it plans to release a range of new narrative content associated with the franchise.

Halo 5: Guardians is getting free content all through the year

Infinity Armory will also introduce two new maps, Riptide and Urban, the former linked to the Arena experience and the latter designed for Warzone matches, and gamers will also get access to a range of extra options when it comes to their REQ cards.

343 Industries also wants to improve the overall shooter experience for Halo 5: Guardians, but there are no details yet about the changes that will accompany the arrival of the new downloadable content.

The company has already made it clear that new maps will be offered for free to all the community all through 2016 to persuade fans to stay engaged with the title.

Revenue is derived from the sale of REQ card packs, with a part of it used to fund the prize pool for the coming finals of the Halo 5: Guardians World Championship.

According to Microsoft, there are no plans to deliver any single player DLC for the game, which means that those who want to see how the story of Master Chief evolves will have to wait for the next installment in the series.

Halo 5: Guardians managed to deliver a solid boost for the Xbox One when it launched, but the rival PlayStation 4 from Sony remains the best-selling home console of the year in the United States and worldwide.
