The Twitter accounts of approximately 15 NFL teams got hacked a few hours ago by who appears to be Saudi Arabia-based hacking group OurMine.

By the looks of things, hackers obtained access to the official NFL Twitter account before compromising a series of other accounts belonging to NFL teams like Dallas Cowboys, San Francisco 49ers, and Chicago Bears.

After breaking into accounts, hackers only removed the profile image and then posted a message to claim the attack and explain that “everything is hackable.”

“Hi, we’re Back (OurMine). We are here to Show people that everything is hackable. to improve your accounts security Contact us,” the hackers said in a message posted from the official Twitter accounts of several NFL teams. In some cases, the hackers also said they were “just kidding.”

No information exposed following the breach, accounts restored

The message posted by the hacking group also directed users to its Twitter account, but this handle has already been suspended.

Twitter explains that the service wasn’t breached, suggesting that hackers obtained access to the compromised NFL account through a third-party service. Furthermore, it appears that the hackers took over the Facebook and Instagram accounts of some teams as well, possibly as they used the same passwords as the Twitter accounts.

OurMine has a long history of breaking into Twitter accounts of high-profile users, but most of their attacks are limited to just posting messages that are later removed when owners regain control of the accounts.

A few years ago, OurMine managed to obtain access to the official Twitter account of Netflix, again posting a message to suggest that everything can be hacked due to poor security. OurMine also hacked the Twitter accounts of Wikipedia co-founder Jimmy Wales, Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg and Google chief executive Sundar Pichai.
