We told you yesterday that GNOME 3.22 users are in for a treat this week as the project's developers are hard at work to unleash the second and last stable update to the series, GNOME 3.22.2, due for release on November 9, 2016.

As part of this new GNOME 3.22 point release, several of the core components and apps that are distributed as part of the GNOME Stack will receive various improvements, updated translations, and bug fixes. We have already told you about what's coming to Evolution 3.22.2 and Epiphany 3.22.2, so it's time to talk a little about the GTK+ GUI toolkit.

GTK+ 3.22.3 was released on November 7, 2016, and while it's not a major milestone, it adds a few important changes. For example, starting with this version, there's support for HiDPI (High Dots Per Inch) displays on Microsoft Windows operating systems, which means that the system's DPI settings will be respected by all GTK+ apps if you have GTK+ 3.22.3 or later installed.

APIs that will be removed in GTK+ 4 were deprecated

Also for Windows platforms, GTK+ 3.22.3 improves the GL support, allowing the creation of legacy contexts and anti-aliasing. Furthermore, the gtk-demo component received a new demo for displaying and testing of the rendering performance, and it looks like the APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) that'll be removed in the upcoming GTK+ 4 release have been deprecated.

The Serbian language translation was updated as well, and several other minor bugs reported by users since the GTK+ 3.22.2 point release were addressed. For more details, we've attached below the full changelog, and you can also download the GTK+ 3.22.3 source archive right now from our website if you want to install it on your GNU/Linux distribution.
