Feral Interactive has just released GRID Autosport for iPhone and iPad, as it promises console-quality racing on Apple devices with super high-quality graphics and performance optimized for mobile.

The game comes with no less than 100 cars and 100 circuits, and the developing company promises best-in-class controls, either with touch and tilt on your iPhone or iPad, or using an MFi gamepad.

It goes without saying that this is quite a demanding title, so you need one of the latest-generation Apple devices to be able to play it. For example, the oldest iPhone that can run it is the iPhone 6s, though we’ve tested it on this particular model and not only that the game feels slow at certain times, but it also drains battery life dramatically.

Latest iPhones required for flawless performance

On the other hand, the iPhone 7, iPhone 8, or the iPhone X should run it quite flawlessly, yet a certain amount of battery drain is also expected in this case given the high-quality graphics that the game comes with.

What’s also important to know is that GRID Autosport comes as a 4.01 GB download from the App Store, and the company says that you need at least 6 GB to install the game. And if you want the full package that comes with several in-app purchases, an extra 8 GB of free space is recommended to avoid installation issues.

iOS 11 is also required, so you need to update your iPhones to the latest version of the operating system to be able to play the game.

And last but not least, it’s important to know that GRID Autosport doesn’t come as a free title, but with a $9.99 price tag. But given the promised console-quality racing and the stunning graphics, that shouldn’t be such a big problem.

It remains to be seen how successful this game turns out to be, but it’s pretty clear that Asphalt finally has a huge competitor in the App Store.
