Shawn Fonteno has become well known among Grand Theft Auto V fans because of his portrayal of Franklin, one of the three main characters of the single-player portion of the open-world title. Now, a new image that he has posted on social media is re-igniting rumors that the development team at Rockstar might be preparing single-player downloadable content for it.

The Instagram image shows the actor situated in the offices of the company, surrounded by posters and clad in a motion capture suit, but there's no attached description to offer details about when the picture was taken or what kind of activity he was engaged with.

Fans of GTA V see this as unofficial confirmation that single-player downloadable content is being created and that Rockstar might soon officially announce it and provide specifics about the kind of experience it will offer.

Of course, the image might be old, or it might be connected to an entirely different project that the studio is working on, but there's no way to stop players from speculating about the future of one of the biggest video games of the moment.

The fans have been asking Rockstar to deliver single-player DLC since the title was ported to the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4, but the company has not come up with any details about it, even suggesting that none was planned because of the resources required to sustain the Online mode.

Other rumors are claiming that most of the company is currently working on an entirely new and different video game and that only a small number of developers are continuing to work on GTA V, tweaking mechanics and expanding the multiplayer side of the open-world experience.

Rockstar is known for keeping major projects secret

The company has a policy of only offering details about DLC for its major titles shortly before launching them, and that might mean that gamers will have to wait a little while before they get actual information about the single-player content that Franklin is teasing.

During the month of Christmas, Rockstar delivered new modes and more gameplay options for those playing the Online mode of GTA V, allowing them to hire other players or to get a job to open new options.

At the moment, players who love the single player are dealing with a new mystery, linked to a telephone number that is not considered a cheat but has some interesting effects.

When gamers call 1-999-367-3767, a massive explosion is triggered in the skies of the world of Los Santos, and the smartphone that players are using changes its background to black.

So far, the fans are unsure about the meaning of these changes, but this might be another way for Rockstar to tease a future content drop or even a larger expansion for the open world.

GTA V is a best seller on the PC, the Xbox One, the PlayStation 4, and older home consoles, and Take Two has already said in its financial documents that more installments in the series are planned.
