If you like Crusader Kings series and other similar games, you're going to love Secret Government, at least in theory. The grand strategy game developed by GameTrek has just been released in Early Access and it's now available for purchase for just $20 / €20 (10% discount included). According to developers, those who buy the game should expect a full launch later this year.

As the name suggests, Secret Government lets players manage a secret organization called the Brotherhood. The game takes place from the 17th century to the modern days and has players spread their influence across the globe, rewriting key historical events and deciding the fate of humankind.

But Secret Government is not just about sending your spies all over the world, as players must carefully manage their resources in order to manipulate the actions of the world’s leaders. From strategically planting your agents in vulnerable regions to infiltrating powerful institutions of authority, anyone can be your pawn as you exploit their resources and seize control over key decision-makers.

Although this isn't a full release, the Early Access version starts during the Glorious Revolution in England where players must face a hostile secret organization whose methods are similar to theirs, but their goals are completely different.

You'll meet some of the world’s most powerful figures in the game, from national rulers to military superpowers, who might or might not become your pawns. You'll have to learn to manipulate their complex AI machinations as you leverage their unique abilities to shape the world to your needs.

Secret Government seems to be pretty complex when it comes to managing your secret organization, as you'll be able to plant your agents and indirectly coerce others to do your bidding with over 50 types of actions intended to upend the world’s balance in your favor while keeping your hands clean.

The game isn't that expensive, but if you'd rather wait until the full release later this year, you can at least wishlist it on Steam if you like this type of game.
