14 DAY TRIAL // Initially slated for a Q2 2022 release, grand strategy Terra Invicta, a game developed by Pavonis Interactive and published by Hooded Horse, has just been delayed for the second time. On the bright side, developers announced they will release a demo during the Steam Next Fest, which will be playable between June 13-20.
According to the studio, the demo will include the beginning of the main alien invasion scenario, spanning seven years of gameplay from the crash-landing of an UFO on Earth and the start of the investigations into possible alien activity all the way to humanity’s first foray into space.
Additionally, the demo includes a reduced version of the skirmish mode, allowing players to jump straight into tactical battles in order to try out the game’s fleet combat systems. Just one faction, the Resistance, will be available in the upcoming demo.
As far as the delay goes, the folks at Pavonis Interactive confirmed that while the game is now feature-complete, they have decided to delay the game to slightly later in the year in order to polish the launch version.

For those who’ve never heard about Terra Invicta, it’s worth mentioning that this is the first game from the creators of XCOM’s Long War mods. The game involves an alien invasion that has fractured humanity into seven ideological factions. Players must choose a faction to take control of Earth’s nations, expand across the Solar System, and battle enemy fleets in tactical combat.
Fans of the genre can now wishlist Terra Invicta on Steam before the demo arrives next week. The game is also available on GOG, but the demo might be exclusively available via Valve’s digital store.
