Legacy support will continue to be offered though

It’s already a well-known fact that Windows phones have an app problem, and even though Microsoft’s pushing for different projects that could address this, results so far have been rather below expectations.

At the same time, some developers are giving up on Windows Phone and Windows 10 Mobile and either pull their apps from the store or leave them for download without any new updates and new features.

This is the case of GoPro, the action camera maker who initially said that a Windows 10 Mobile version of their official app was in the works with support for Lumia 950 and 950 XL. Plans have changed, though, and now the company informs us that the application posted in the store won’t receive any new features and updates.

Legacy support will still be offered

It will continue to be up for grabs for Windows phones owners, it adds, but on the main page of the GoPro app, the “Windows store is no longer an option to download.”

“Definitely sorry for the confusion. Please keep in mind that the previous post stating that we support Windows phones was back in the beginning of December of last year, and as is the nature of technology things change fast,” a company rep has recently said, as spotted by MSPU.

“That being said, we definitely do offer legacy support for Windows phones. This means we will do all we can to help out in getting your phone and camera connected, but we will no longer adding updates and new features to the Windows platform.”

Without a doubt, the fact that more developers are giving up on their apps for Windows Phone and Windows 10 Mobile is bad news for Microsoft. The company is, however, preparing several “exciting” news for Windows 10 users at the upcoming BUILD developer conference when it’s very likely to discuss more plans to bring apps on PCs and mobile devices, as well as improvements to the operating system.
