It's still just rumors, but they come from reliable sources

Google is preparing to do more than just develop Gear OS for some other companies to use, and the latest information leaked is that the company is preparing to launch at least one Pixel watch, maybe more.

Google only watched from the sidelines what other companies were doing with the Wear OS platform (formerly Android Wear), but it seems that’s no longer the case. Google is reportedly working on their own watches, and somehow that’s not even the least surprising.

In fact, it’s the kind of thing that lets you wonder why they haven’t done this earlier. Google either had too much on their plate, of they just waited for the platform to mature. In any case, you can expect the new watches to make a splash, when they eventually land.

Not one, but three models

The first information regarding the launch of a Google Pixel watch was revealed by Evan Blass, famous leaker, and writer for VentureBeat. He is saying that has confirmation from reliable sources that Google is going to announce the new watch during their regular fall event.

As it turns out, it’s more to the story. Another writer, Roland Quandt, this time from WinFuture.de, is saying that not one, but three models are going to be revealed. The code names are "Triton," "Ling," and "Sardine." Moreover, they are going to be based on the Snapdragon Wear 3100 platform, that hasn’t been launched yet.

It’s not even summer, and the leaks regarding new products are already happening. Since Google doesn’t manage to keep this information private, it’s very likely that the community will know a lot more about these new products long before the fall event.

In any case, the new Pixel watches will land in an already overcrowded market, but at least they might offer some serious competition for the already existing products.
