Just a few moments ago, Google released the fourth and last developer beta of its forthcoming Android P mobile operating system, and teased us with the final release as coming soon.

Android P beta 4 is now available for grabs for all Android application developers who want to make sure their apps are ready for the next major release of the Linux-based mobile operating system used by millions of people worldwide. This is also the last beta before the final release, so make sure you test your apps well.

"Beta 4 is the last preview milestone before we launch the official Android P platform later this summer. Take this opportunity to test your apps and publish updates, to make sure you offer a great experience for users transitioning to Android P," said Google in today's announcement.

Android P Beta 4 is dubbed as a Release Candidate (RC) milestone and includes the final system behaviors along with the official Android P APIs (API level 28), which were available since the second beta release. It's the last step in the development cycle of Android P and offers devs everything they need to wrap up their testing.

Android P will introduce new features and improvements

Due for release next month, Android P promises numerous new features and improvements, starting with support for multiple display notches or cutouts as Google likes to call them because most Android phone manufacturers adopted the famous notch design for their latest flagships.

Besides various performance improvements that most Android fans will probably love, Android P introduce adaptive battery and adaptive brightness to help you save more battery life on your Android device, and new AI-powered App Actions to help you do your daily tasks more easily and quickly.

Android P is also bringing an all-new navigation system with new gestures to help you quickly swipe between running apps from the device's home screen. Other noteworthy features include a new Android Dashboard to fight smartphone addiction, App Timer for setting time limits on apps, and a smarter Do Not Disturb mode.

The Android P beta 4 is now rolling out to all supported Pixel devices, and developers who are running the previous beta release will automatically receive the update. If you haven't jumped into the Android P beta testing bandwagon, you can grab the last developer beta by enrolling in the Android Beta program.
